Q

Aron, do you speak any Japanese? I know your wife, Yumi, is from Japan.

The Slants responded on 09/28/2010
A

Aron speaks very little conversational Japanese...his wife is trying to teach him though!

Q

When will y'all be coming back to Illinois?

The Slants responded on 08/30/2010
A

Nothing is set in stone yet but we're looking at about April 2011 right now!

Q

Are you ever going to perform in PA?

The Slants responded on 08/24/2010
A

We performed in Philadelphia in 2008 and are working to get back there for 2011.

Q

Will you guys ever be coming back to perform at Kumoricon again?

The Slants responded on 08/16/2010
A

We'd love to, though it really is more up to Kumoricon than it is up to us. We really enjoy K-con so it depends on their Guest Relations dept.

Q

When you drive to a new location, is it all at once, like through the night, or are there breaks and such? How does Ken survive driving so much?

The Slants responded on 08/11/2010
A

It depends on where we are the night before. When on tour, we usually play at least one show per day and the drives can be anywhere from two hours to twelve. So if it's a long stretch, we have to go straight from one show, drive all night, and load in for the next.

Like mentioned before, we all alternate. Usually the late night driving shifts are shared between Aron and Simon. It just depends on how tired band members are from loading gear and playing a show too!

Q

Who does the most driving when you're on the road?

The Slants responded on 08/10/2010
A

Generally, it's pretty equal but usually Ken does most of the driving if its in the Northwest. On longer tours, usually Ken, Simon, and Aron do the bulk of the driving while Tyler works on his laptop and Johnny sleeps.

Q

You guys love to eat - What are each of your favorite snacks?

The Slants responded on 08/09/2010
A

Everyone in the band loves good beef jerky equally. Aron also enjoys sunflower seeds, it helps him stay awake while driving. Johnny and Simon like to also snack on dried mangos. Tyler and Ken love everything!

Q

Is there any word yet on if you will be returning to Sakuracon in 2011 for another face melting show? There are a lot of otaku out there that would love to see your return. :>

The Slants responded on 08/09/2010
A

No word yet - any confirmed shows are post immediately to our calender, so the best place to check is always at theslants.com. We'd love to return to Sakuracon someday - the best way is to get your friends to hop onto the message boards there and post under "guest requests" that you want The Slants to come back!!!

Q

As a pretty new band, should we expect to see more of your work?

The Slants responded on 08/09/2010
A

Definitely.

This band has been busy from day one. We've only been around for three years but have released three albums toured North America over ten times and played over 250 shows. When we're not touring, we're constantly developing new ideas and writing songs. In fact, we already have the groundwork laid for the 4th release.

We're not the kind of band that just sits around, we like to stay busy :)

Q

What's your favorite breed of dog? Or do you just get them from the local shelter? How do you take care of them while you're on tour?

The Slants responded on 08/08/2010
A

Aron has a huge black lab and a tiny French bulldog; Simon has an American Eskimo and a German Sheppard/Siberian Husky. With the exception of the French bulldog, all of them were adopted from a local animal shelter. We strongly support adopting animals.

As for dog care, we have friends who chip in as well as local dog care centers for shorter trips.
